The History of Missoula, Montana

Missoula, Montana known as The Garden City has a population of 69,122 and was founded in 1864. While in Missoula, you can find a variety of amenities including three distinct shopping districts, multiple restaurants, cafés, coffee houses, and breweries. Missoula is known for its culture and is filled with an endless array of arts and entertainment events.

The success of Missoula in the early stages of development include the establishment of the University of Montana in 1895, and then later in 1908 becoming the regional headquarters for the Forest Service which became the hub for training smoke jumpers in 1942.
